Suspicions of wife!

As you all know very well I’m happily married for the past 6 years. Today I will share biggest secret to a successful and happy marriage. The secret is to let your wife be a little suspicious about you.

So my wife stumbled upon an old lady friends’ profile in FB. Very cleverly she brought her up in a conversation. And being an honest guy that I am, I told her stuff about this particular girl. The girl in question is a cabin crew member and known to me for the past several years. Let’s call her Swati for the sake of this post.

So here’s how the conversation went...

Wife : where did Swati study.

Me (casually) : Kolkata

Wife (cleverly) : which college?

Me (casually) : Bhagu!

Wife: Are you sure?

Me (puzzled) : yes!

Wife (with a glow in her eye, like she’s hit a jackpot) : But her FB profile says she’s from Calcutta University!

Me (even more puzzled) : Isn’t Bhagu under CU?

Wife : As far as Swati is concerned, she didn’t go to Bhagu, she went to CU. And her CU is some college in central Kolkata.

P.S. CU has a campus in central Kolkata where they only teach post grad students.

Me (like a poor lamb) : All colleges like Goenka, Bhagu, Umesh Chandra, South City, Jaipuria all are under CU. And people can write CU instead of their college name.

Wife (forcefully) : NO. This Calcutta University is a college somewhere in central Kolkata.

Me : How does it matter?

Wife : It does, because you lied to me. Why did you lie to me?

Me : I didn’t lie, Swati is from Bhagu, which is under CU.

Wife : Tell me the truth. How do you know her? Did you approach her. I’m sure you’re the one who went on and approached her to talk to you.

Me : I know her from the time long before we got married. And how does that matter. She’s married to a guy, it was a love marriage, they are married happily. Why would I do that?

Wife : No, tell me the truth. You met her after our marriage. And you approached her, you’ve a habit. This is what you do?

This went on for a while. And I kept defending myself and the truth. But she kept insisting until she uttered the following sentence.

Wife : you tell me the truth, I won’t get mad at you.

Me : but I’m telling the truth and nothing but the truth.

Wife :TELL ME THE TRUTH.

Me (after getting a grasp of situation and turning the tide) : fine! I’ll tell you the truth. But promise me that you won’t get mad at me.

Wife : yes. Yes. Absolutely.

Me : it was 17th September 2017, 6.20 am. I am at the airport. Gate number 23 E waiting to board my flight # 6E 351 to Delhi. The punctual guy that I’m, I was waiting at the front of the queue. And there she walked towards me. In her indigo uniform. She looked at me and smiled. I said, good morning. She greeted me back. And we stuck a conversation. One thing led to another and shared my business card. She was impressed to see the business card of CEO of a big company. She gracefully accepted it. During the flight she served me my pre-booked meal with Masala Tea. On my way out, she greeted me again.

After listening to the whole story the wife looked puzzled. I slept peacefully the whole night.
